About Us

Misale Returnees and Potential Migrants Art Organization (MISALE) is a non-profit, nonpartisan, and nongovernmental local organization based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Founded in 2023 by returnees/survivors from the Middle East, MISALE is a survivor-led organization dedicated to addressing human trafficking and modern slavery in Ethiopia through music and art contributions.

Mission and Vision

Mission

Empower migrant survivors and at-risk youth through music therapy, artistic skills, and talent development. We raise awareness about migration issues and advocate for systemic change, where the artistic expressions of survivors and at-risk youth serve as beacons of change, leading the way to end modern slavery.

Vision

Art Unchains Hope: We envision an Ethiopia free from the chains of human trafficking and modern slavery.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive awareness campaigns on the risks and consequences of human trafficking and irregular migration, targeting potential migrants, vulnerable youth, and communities.
  • Provide educational programs and workshops to raise awareness about human trafficking, modern slavery, and the importance of legal migration.
  • Collaborate with schools, community centers, and local organizations to integrate anti-trafficking education into their curricula and outreach activities.
  • Provide targeted information and resources on safe migration options, legal rights, and available support services for potential migrants.
  • Advocate for the inclusion of human trafficking and related issues in national laws, policies, and proclamations, working closely with government entities, NGOs, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with local and international organizations to influence policy changes that address the root causes of human trafficking, protect victims, and ensure the prosecution of traffickers.
  • Engage in policy dialogues and provide expertise to inform the development of comprehensive anti-trafficking strategies at the national and regional levels.
  • Advocate for the protection of the rights of migrants, including access to legal pathways for migration, fair labor practices, and social inclusion in destination countries.

  • Advocate for the reduction of stigma and discrimination faced by returnees, promoting their social inclusion and equal opportunities in society.
